Shandilya Sons' Aquaclean — a solution for wastewater recycling in the flexo printing industry

The company claimed that the new invention, Aquaclean, is an automated, cost-effective, and space-saving system that treats wastewater in the flexo-printing industry, ensuring its safe discharge within the prescribed limits issued by India's Central Pollution Control Board.

Currently, wastewater disposal in the flexo-industry shows no structured wastewater treatment system exclusively available in the country. “As a result, flexo printing wastewater generated during the cleaning of storage systems and ink containers, changing over of inks, and during the cleaning of the plates, ink trays, and Anilox rollers negatively affects the environment. The pigment-contaminated wastewater has to be treated to achieve permissible limits for various pollution indicators like pH, total suspended solids, biochemical oxygen demand, and chemical oxygen demand,” explained Bhaskar Damle of Shandilya Sons.

Aquaclean has received an Indian patent (Patent No. 448224) in 2023. “We advocate a cleaner, safer environment with minimal efforts and optimised results. The system's benefits include providing a solution that can treat wastewater from the flexo-printing industry, reducing the environmental impact and ensuring compliance with the prescribed discharge limits,” said Damle.

Shandilya Sons also has other products such as Aniclean and Dotclean. The company started manufacturing Aniclean machines in 2009, and its installations have crossed over 200 machine sales. The company has machines in India and exports to countries like Sri Lanka, Kenya, Tanzania, Philippines, UAE, Iran, Uganda, Nigeria, and many others. 

Dotclean machines were introduced in 2012 and crossed the 100 installations mark. These machines have been installed in India and countries like Sri Lanka, Kenya, Tanzania, Russia, Iran, Uganda, Nigeria, and many others.

Aniclean, Dotclean and the new Aquaclean can be fitted to narrow-web label printers, wide-web flexo printers, offset printers, and corrugated box printers. Shandilya Sons has customers like Huhtamaki, Skanem, Mudrika, Kumar Labels, Signode, Pragati, AmulFed Dairy, and many more for their machines.
