The Lithrone installed four months ago was complemented with a series of post-press equipment including a six-clamp book binder from Welbound and the recently installed Canon 7010.

Ekjot Singh, director, Sharp Digital said: “We have renewed focus on the commercial and book printing segment. For the same, we wanted to bolster our pressroom. Komori Lithrone four-colour suited our needs and customer demands. Similarly, the Canon 7010 was opted because of its tried and tested service support.”

Sharp is one of the few digital printers who have strengthened their pressroom with offset presses. Its offset printing facility already includes multicolour and mono printing presses from Heidelberg with a sheet size of 28x40-inches and 20x30-inches. Besides the new 7010, Sharp has a three Canon 7000 and two Canon iPR1110 presses at its units.

“While the digital would take care of the short-run job demands, the offset would power the long-run production jobs. Together, the two would add a good amount of production capacity to our various units.” Singh added. He also hinted that addition of another unit in the next few months is in the pipeline.

With five printing units at various locations, Sharp employs around 50 people for managing its pressroom functions.
