“Our latest addition – the Heidelberg Suprasetter CTP 106 – is a game changer for us. Having an in-house platemaking facility has helped us cut down on outsourcing time and costs. This is boosted our productivity and quality,” said Thavasi Kumar, the co-founder of Shumunga Thermal Systems.
Shanmuga installed Suprasetter A 106 is capable of producing up to 18 full-sized plates /hour, and expose plates in sizes ranging from 370x323mm to 930x1140mm. Kumar said, “One of the key aspect of the A 106 is its power consumption. It will ensure that the CTP will serve us for a long time.”
Established in 1985, Kumar along with brother Sampath began as a commercial printing unit. Later his two siblings, Prakash and Suresh joined the business, giving the family-owned business a marketing makeover. Today, the print firm operates out of a 12,000 sq/ft production facility and specializes in printing school notebooks.
The production shopfloor is equipped with a Heidelberg SM 102 five-colour press with a perfector, in addition to two other multi-colour presses. The post-press division includes cutting, finishing and lamination equipments.
“The addition of the Suprasetter A 106 with the Prinect workflow complements our press portfolio, enabling us to reach our products to the market in quick time, helping us capitalise on market opportunities,” said Kumar.
