Prior to Siegwerk’s involvement, the government-run school building was extremely old and in a dilapidated condition with just three usable rooms.
After assessing the condition of the old school building, Siegwerk India took up the initiative to reconstruct a new building for the students studying at the government school. The new school building constructed by Siegwerk is now having all the basic amenities — 8 classrooms, kitchen to prepare food for the students, a dining room, toilet building and an office for the principal of the school.
Ashish Pradhan, president, Siegwerk India and Greater China, said, “Reconstruction of this school building testifies our commitment to the society towards its inclusive and sustainable growth. We at Siegwerk strongly believe that the good physical infrastructure enables and encourages the students to go to school every day to build their bright career. With our various community development initiatives, we remain committed to contributing to the nation-building exercise which continues to inspire us to go a step further in supporting the society around us. I am happy to note that this new school building can support more than 250 underprivileged students to pursue their education in a remote village of rural Rajasthan.”
After handing over the new school building to the authorities, the local government officials appreciated the efforts of Siegwerk India for its contribution to the society and presented a token of appreciation in an event organised to facilitate the transfer of the school building. The enthused students performed various cultural programmes to celebrate the new beginning at the renovated school.
As part of its community development and upliftment activities, Siegwerk India has been active in supporting the schools by providing them the necessary infrastructure such as toilets, school buildings, stationary, school uniform, furniture apart from others.
Siegwerk is also supporting meritorious girls in helping them pursue higher study like BSC nursing and boys to ITI training. Siegwerk also started Siegwerk Scholarship Programme under the banner Siegwerk India Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojna to recognise and support student doing well in Class X and Class XII.
