Ravindranath Bhas, executive director at Siepmann’s Card Systems, said, “The press is capable of producing cards like banking, ID, loyalty and smart cards along with variable data and personalised printing. The press has added an advantage as we have the facility right from designing to post-finishing operations. The press is ideal for variable data and personalised printing.”
Although, Ravindranath Bhas declined to give the percentage figure for the last financial year, the company is eyeing growth of 14%-15% in this financial year as compared to last financial year and does not have plans to commercialise the press but to use it for in-house production.
Bhas said, “As of now, we are using the press for our in-house production but we may or may not cater to the commercial market. We have witnessed tremendous growth in last year and are sure to surpass what we achieved last financial year. Besides in-house production, we also use the press for proofing solutions.”
Meteor DP8700 XL can be used for printing on the widest range of substrates like paper up to 350gsm as well as plastic, polycarbonate, vinyl and PET substrates as well as envelopes and has cut sheet size up to 102 cm / 40inch in production.
Aura Print Solutions, the Indian representative for MGI presses bagged the order during Drupa 2012.
V Natarajan, managing director at Aura Print Solutions, said, “We are delighted with the positive reaction that we have received from Siepmann’s. The ability to print on plastic and envelope as well as paper and card is of great interest to printers who are looking for a wider range of digital printing opportunities.”
Established in 1988, Siepmann’s Card Systems started manufacturing the first indigenously developed contactless smart card in-house during the early half of 2002. While its head office is located in Mumbai, Siepmann’s Card Systems has branches in Delhi and Kolkatta with offices at Chennai and Bengaluru.
