Singapore-based post-print finishing equipment company, Paper Bind, launched its latest PUR System, 444 Pro Plus. The launch was announced at the recently concluded (12-13 June) Dscoop conference in Bali.
The binder, an upgrade to the System 444 series, boasts of complete automation and double productivity.
Mumbai-based Silverpoint Press is India's first printer to have booked the machine. Saifee Masakarwala of Silverpoint said, "PUR binding opens a whole new array of possibilities for us. With an effective binding technology as the PUR on the 444 Pro Plus we intend to deliver explore newer applications for our products."
The 444 Pro Plus is capable of enabling 400 cycles per hour on a single clamp and can handle a maximum size of 17.5x19inches.
Anuj Mehta, director, Paper Bind, said, "The new system is designed with an evolved NPS system which facilitates an increased number of cycles per hour. In addition to this, the system is equipped with a single smart touch panel, and can be accessed by a single operator for maintenance purposes, making it less labour intensive."
The 444 Pro Plus is also set to be commissioned to a South Korea and a Nairobi firm.
Other additional features, said Mehta, are, it takes less than a minute to automatically clean the applicator nozzle, eliminating hours of labour and the patented technology for criss cross milling of paper while preparing the spine.
"This feature", said Mehta, "allows the paper to bond with PUR in two directions, giving each page a much higher pull strength, and creates books that open much flatter."
