Sivakasi Printex creates impact with 100 exhibitors
A three-day conference-cum-exhibition on printing and allied machineries, Sivakasi Printex 2014, organised by Sivakasi Master Printers’ Association was inaugurated on 18 July.

The exhibition has more than 100 stalls. The biggest stall belongs to Redland who have more than 70 installations in Sivakasi. P Babu stated the news from the show was Redland's alliance with Petratto and Bowes. Meanwhile both Autoprint and Welbound are showcasing live demos of the Reckoner VDP 65 and the six clamp Welbound 2000.
Besides this, there are digital printers, stitching, cutting and folding machines, box-making machines, paper products (from ITC, Ballarpur, International Paper, TNPL, SMI Coated, Sripathi Paper and Boards, Leaf Trading), spare parts, chemicals and consumables.
The president of the All India Federation of Master Printers, AMSG Ashokan stated during the inauguration, "Awareness in the printing industry was lacking among entrepreneurs. Besides catering to the growing printing and packaging needs of various industries, the export avenues in the sector was increasing."
Sivakasi has more than 6,000 printing and other allied units. The fireworks and matches industries remain the top customers for the printing industry, he said. These two sectors contributed to 70 per cent of the jobs to the printing units.
Besides the Sivakasi print industry produced books, diaries, packing materials and labels.
“With an annual turnover which is estimated to be Rs 2,000 crore, the print export from Sivakasi in the previous financial year was Rs.200 crore,” Ashokan said. He added, "In spite of a grim market situation, the future looks good."
