The focus, however, is on the high-definition imaging B2-sized HP Indigo 12000 HD Digital Press whose doubles image resolution is capable of creating sharper, smoother, finer print, enabling print service providers to surpass offset quality and open new digital possibilities in high-end photo including for photo prints, photo books, holiday cards, and calendars.

The HP Indigo 12000 HD has had a successful run in the last six months, with six installations in the last six months. These presses have been installed in Dehradun and small towns like Rajamundhry, Chengacheri (Kerala), Hisar, and Ludhiana. “Digital printing is also a tool which can serve a very small organic juice manufacturer in Jalandhar or a spice manufacturer in Kerala. These are companies who cannot give the volumes but need beautiful packaging to get their products to the supermarkets. Those are the people who will benefit from it,” said A Appadurai, country business manager for Indigo at HP.

With this PrintWeek India estimates the total HP Indigo installations in India to be around 300, of which 15 are digital label presses. “Digital printing has evolved by leaps and bounds in India and one key-trend driving this shift has been the evolution of HP’s graphics solutions offerings from devices to effective marketing solutions for brand owners,” Appadurai. “India is a high growth and promising economy and we are witnessing that the future of commercial printing is driven by digital printing.”

The other feature at the HP stand was the variety of print samples produced on the HP Indigo presses – it ranged from labels, cartons to photo albums and large-format prints. “Today brands are talking about engaging, immersive and delightful customer experience. At the stand, we are showcasing these experiences, which can be produced with our rich digital printing portfolio. We believe in limitless possibilities with digital printing and are happy to notice some of the very interesting projects and implementations by our Indian customers,” concluded Durai.
