Skyscreen celebrates Makar Sankrant with launch of a new UV ink and move to a new location

The official launch of Sakura, a UV ink, by SkyScreen on the occasion of Makar Sankrant, and against the backdrop of a colourful event, marked the company's big step towards ink manufacturing. The company, one of the country’s foremost supplier of screen printing products, also used the event to announce its move to a new location in Phoenix Enclave, off BKC Road in Kurla West, Mumbai.

Mumbai-based Skyscreen, in collaboration with Viraj Inks, an Indian inkmaker, will bring Sakura range of UV inks, which according to Anil Brahmbhatt, the managing director of Skyscreen, will bring together formation expertise from UK, manufacturing expertise of UV inks from UAE and quality production in India by Viraj Inks.

“It was a dream that I’ve nurtured since I entered the print arena and I am happy to be able to do that now,” said Brahmbhatt.

A day on which Skyscreen team and Bramhbhatt watched his clients and well-wishers, it looked to be a mixture of pride, elation and perhaps a little bit of apprehension.

“I think it will be exciting for us to become part of the UV inks provider to the print industry,” said Bramhbhatt. “The apprehension, I would think is the limited use of UV ink in the process, which according to estimates is 5%.”

But it’s a challenge, Brambhbatt looks to tackle with Skyscreen’s reach across India with its 750 dealers. The company also has manufacturing plants in two locations in Mumbai. “We have been successful working in tandem with large companies like Nittoku and Ulano and we hope to meet this challenge too.”

Bramhbhatt also hopes to encash on the green rush among the printers and print buyers and promote it to meet their requirements. “UV printing offers many benefits, it’s green, because ink is dried immediately; it’s fast, because there is no waiting around for inks to dry; its cost-effective, because you save time in drying and costly coatings; and its more appealing, because UV inks are more vibrant since the ink does not have as much time to soak into the stock,” he said.
