SMI launches hotmelt clear-on-clear and peelable labelstocks

Indian labelstock manufacturer SMI Coated Products has launched two new substrates – clear-on-clear with hotmelt adhesive and peelable labelstock for wet wipes – at Labelexpo Europe.

According to Ajay Mehta of SMI, the company is the first Indian manufacturer to develop a clear-on-clear labelstock and that too with hotmelt adhesive.

“SMI Clarity is our product commonly known as clear-on-clear. Now with hotmelt adhesive, our customers can produce high clarity labels which can be applied to a variety of substrates,” said Mehta.

SMI claims to be the first Indian company to offer a labelstock solution for the wet wipes market. It has introduced SMI 46300Y a UV curable adhesive specially designed for wet wipes application.

Talking about the Indian label market, Rohit Mehta of SMI said, “The economic situation across the globe has been very unpredictable. Added to this have been major financial changes in India. Initially, there may be few teething issues but as these issues will be streamlined, the economy is bound to boom. The label industry is going to experience major gains due to this.”
