As of 1 April 2012, BILT Magnaprint 50 gsm was priced at Rs 49.73 kg (ex-mill price which does not include freight, octroi, dealer commission, credit, etc).
As of 1 January 2014, the rate will be Rs 64.60 kg. In addition, there will be an additional rupee increase from 1 February 2014.
According to a Mumbai-based printer, “That’s a 30% rise in price in 20 months. Do printers ask for an increase? Even 10% in 20 months?”
Nagsundar who is vice-president (South Zone for the All India Federation of Master Printers) said, “We are not in a position to increase our print rates even by 1% in spite of this exorbitant paper increase. If we increase our print charges along with paper rates, we will not get any orders.”
Printers have to create awareness among the print buying community.
