Somu Digital raises print quality bar with Ricoh
With a mission to remain at the forefront of digital colour printing in the commercial printing market of north Karnataka, Kalaburagi-based Somu Digital has expanded its machine portfolio to include a new Ricoh Pro C9200 Graphic Arts Edition, an advanced, productive, and versatile digital colour production press. This machine was supplied and installed by Monotech Systems.

Established in 2011, Somu Digital, with its sister concern Somu Photo Lab, is known in north Karnataka for providing high-quality printing and imaging services. Manjunath Kalgi, director, Somu Digital, said, “Our divisions engage in different activities. Somu Digital is about commercial printing, and we provide printing services for wedding photos and wedding photo albums as well as wedding photography under Somu Photo Lab.”
When asked about the key products which Somu Digital and Somu Photo Lab offer, Kalgi said, “We offer varieties of print products, such as brochures, leaflets, business cards, invitation cards, scratch cards, ID cards as well as wedding photos and photo albums.”
Apart from the new Ricoh Pro C9200, Somu Digital’s shopfloor boasts other digital production presses like Konica Minolta Bizhub Press C1100, Konica Minolta Bizhub Press C6000, Konica Minolta Bizhub Press C1085, and others.
On choosing the new Ricoh press, Kalgi said, “This press is compact and cost-effective with faster speed, premium colour quality and higher production volume. We will be able to push the bar of wedding photo album printing to another level with the Ricoh Pro C9200.”
Perfectly engineered with an advanced media support system, the Ricoh Pro C9200 is compatible with diverse stocks which can be coated, metallic, super gloss, transparent, thick, textured and many more. for the production of a range of high-quality photos and commercial graphics. The press can run at the speed of 115-ppm to produce premium quality images on stocks up to 470-gsm.
Somu Digital and Somu Photo Lab boast a long list of customers which consists of local business establishments, imaging professionals, and walk-in individuals from different walks of life.
“Our customers are primarily from the cities and towns across north Karnataka. Of them, many professional photographers have been our valued customers for a long period. They always trust in our quality print outputs and service, so we never let them down,” said Kalgi.
He added that the company will now be able to offer its customers, particularly those in the photo segment or professional photographers, premium quality commercial and wedding albums.
