"The key objective of this confederation is to ensure that printers from South India can tap into several schemes of the central government," said P Chander, past president, All India Federation of Master Printers.

Earlier at a consultation meeting, the members concluded that there's an urgent need to form clusters and establish common facility centres.

"Majority of us spend a huge sum of money in rentals for the units since there's a lack of industrial estates for printing," stated one of the members.

"The region represents 50% of the nation's estimated 2.4 lakhs printing unit. However, many benefits offered by MSME and the Central Government hasn't reached our printers due to lack of organisation of the printing units. Thereby this is an effort to come together as one large outfit under one umbrella," said CR Janardhana, a member from Karnataka.

Another key objective of the confederation is to pioneer the cause of revamping syllabus in printing technology institutes and fill up vacant faculty positions.

"We plan to work with academic policy makers to ensure the revised syllabus derives maximum benefit for the students," added Chander.

Imparting skill training through workshops to workers for creating awareness on the technological advancements in the industry was another key resolution.
