Tota Books is a dynamic and diverse children’s books publishing imprint which was set up by Full Circle Publishing in 2014.
The imprint provides literature that is nurturing, playful and engaging for young readers aged four to 12 years. Over the last decade, Tota Books has amassed a dedicated and growing audience that has become accustomed to the beautifully crafted picture books written by well-known authors and illustrators. In addition, Tota Books has launched talented first-time writers and illustrators who have gone on to establish promising careers in the Indian and global literary world.
Speaking Tiger Books was founded in 2014, and released its first books in February 2015. Today, it has a diverse range of over 750 titles across genres, including a vibrant and robust children’s list under its Talking Cub imprint, which was established in 2017.
The entire list of Tota Books will now be available from Speaking Tiger, where Tota Books will be a separate imprint exclusively for illustrated children’s books.
Starting April, there will be four new books under this imprint: These include A Dog Named Bob and A Cat Named Kit by Namita Gokhale, illustrated by Aanchal Lodhi; Saaz’s Search by Mamta Nainy, illustrated by Debasish Sarma; Summers with Dadu by Aparajita Ramsagar Singh, illustrated by Debaleena Chakraborty; The Adventures of Brownie: The Indie Dog by Sanjana Kulkarni, illustrated by Sushmita Gangalapadu.
“We are delighted to announce that Tota Books is now moving on to the next part of its journey with none other than Ravi Singh, publisher and co-founder of Speaking Tiger, one of the finest independent publishers today, and Sudeshna Shome Ghosh, executive publisher and head of children’s books at Speaking Tiger. Upwards and onwards, taking India’s children’s book publishing to greater heights,’ said Priyanka Malhotra, director and publisher, Full Circle Publishing.
Ravi Singh, publisher and co-founder of Speaking Tiger, said, “We’re delighted that one of the most intelligently and sensitively curated lists of illustrated books for young readers in South Asia will now be a part of Speaking Tiger’s children’s publishing. My colleagues and I have admired the wonderfully diverse and distinctive list that Priyanka has built over just a decade — working with some of India’s finest writers and illustrators for children — and are thrilled to be the happy inheritors of its riches.”
Sudeshna Shome Ghosh, executive publisher and head of children’s books at Speaking Tiger, said, “I have long read and enjoyed many books from Tota Books’ list, and am delighted that they will now form a part of our children’s publishing program. Tota Books’ vibrant picture books on diverse topics, strong storytelling aesthetic, and overall joyful character will complement Speaking Tiger’s children’s publishing vision where we work with new and established writers and illustrators to bring out books that entertain, educate, and remain firm favourites of the children who read them. We look forward to publishing more in this imprint in the future.”
