While talking to PrintWeek India, John Pulickan, chief executive officer, SSK Infotech said he is impressed with the image quality of more than 36 crore impressions that it has printed since the installation in April 2013.

The Truepress Jet520 is a four-colour inkjet VDP press, which runs at a maximum speed at 128 mpm. Pulican said, “We initially installed a 64mpm press and as the volumes increased, it was upgraded to 128mpm speed.”

“The highlight is that this upgradation was accomplished on-site with a downtime of only eight hours,” said Ashootosh Deshpande, regional manager – South Asia, Dainippon Screen Singapore.

The machine is driven by Screen’s Equios software, which is bundled with colour management features. This allows printing of spot colours in CMYK form. This has enabled SSK to print on the plain paper thereby avoiding pre-printed forms. The Truepress Jet520 has notched up print jobs for banks like Axis Bank, ING Vysya and IndusInd. “We have also converted most of our mono-colour jobs to four-colour. Thanks to this kit, we have added a few new customers such as Relaince Insurance,” added Pulickan.

During the presentation, Nitin Wani, country manager – business development, Dainippon Screen Singapore, said, “The machine is targeted at POD for books and transactional printing. The USP is its SED (single engine duplex) mode which enables half-web width duplex printing. The piezo drop-on-demand printheads offer 3, 7 and 10 pico-litre dots that enable smooth gradations using grayscale technology.”

Screen's Koji Yabe and Hiroshi Muramoto showcased various print applications using Truepress.

The Truepress at SSK has a footprint of 36x10-feet including un-winding and re-winding stations from Lasermax Roll Systems.

Screen Truepress Jet is available in three configurations: 520EX monochrome, 520EX full-colour and 520ZZ full-colour. Screen has recently launched Truepress Jet L350 UV for digital label printing applications.
