The Awards ceremony will host more than 300 industry leaders in a gala evening.
Manabu Yamazaki, president and CEO, Canon India, will grace the occasion as the chief guest.
In its 13th year, PrintWeek Awards 2023 will honour industry players for their cutting-edge achievements in 33 categories across Performance, Quality, and Special Industry Awards. There are 11 Performance Awards, 18 Quality Awards and four Special Industry Awards.
Hormazd Sorabjee, managing director of Haymarket SAC India and editor of Autocar in India, said, “We received an overwhelming response. Today, we have hundreds of companies with approximately thousands of print samples which have been shortlisted by our eminent jury members, representing the community of print users and print buyers,”
He added, “The 23 jury members + jury chairpersons spent a week at the Autocar Car Studio in our Mumbai headquarters checking each sample for their tech merits. Kudos and congratulations to all the print firms and packaging converters.”
This year, the Awards received more than 700 samples for the Quality Awards. For the Jury Week event, the categories were divided into three groups. There were separate sets of Jury members on each day. All print samples were coded and the identity of the company was kept confidential. The Jury reviewed the entries, discussed their choices with their fellow Juries and then made the final selections.
Anticipating the Award ceremony, Harveer Sahni of Weldon Celloplast said, “PrintWeek Awards are not just a recognition of talent but also bring to the fore, the evolution of innovation and creativity in print. They are an encouragement that brings recognition amongst the printing and packaging fraternity. With each outing, they help raise the benchmark of excellence in print.”
He added, “The PrintWeek Awards Night is a unique congregation of all segments of printing, curated to celebrate winners who excel in creativity, innovation and sustainability.”
Noel D’Cunha, managing editor, PrintWeek and WhatPackaging? said, “One trend we noticed during Jury Week was the proliferation of small, often craft-based businesses, D2C brands. There is a good demand for fast, easily-ordered short-run packaging. More and more companies are adopting in-house skills to boost technical expertise. We also noticed structural changes, more automation and tweaks in the work process.”
