According to Deepak Sagar, marketing officer, Star Paper, the company is one of the major suppliers of food grade paper in the country. For example, the Kraft paper used inside the corrugated boxes of Domino’s Pizza, directly in contact with the food item, is manufactured by Star Paper.

One of the oldest paper mills in India, the company has four paper machines with an installed capacity of 75,000 tpa to produce a diversified range of paper. The company produces around 250 tonnes of paper every day.

Besides being the largest producer of wood-based virgin Kraft in the country, the company caters to writing and printing, cultural and business communication, packaging, decorative/industrial laminates and security paper segment.

The company sees paper for the packaging industry, especially food packaging, as a growing segment, and according to Sagar, at the exhibition, the company is spreading awareness about papers, which follow the environment and other norms, and about papers, which fit the customer requirement, in terms of shape and bursting factor, among others.

While the company exports a part of its production abroad, it is not yet big, as it has a huge domestic market, said Sagar.

The 12th edition of Paperex, the international exhibition and conference on pulp and paper industry, is being organised from 1 to 4 November 2015 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
