Sulekhan 2021 to celebrating Indian calligraphy
On the occasion of World Calligraphy Day on 11 August, the Typography Society of India, along with its partners, has organised Sulekhan 2021, a one-day event in online mode, to be held from 4 to 7.30 pm. The event will be streamed live on YouTube and the attendees will get a chance to interact with panelists during the panel discussion.

World Calligraphy Day is celebrated every year on the second Wednesday of August to promote calligraphy. It provides a platform for Calligraphers, both experts and beginners, to come together to discuss, practice, and learn about the fine art of calligraphy.
The event will be inaugurated by Achyut Palav and the keynote address will be delivered by Parameshwara Raju. There will also be a video presentation created by Narayana Bhatthathiri featuring hundred calligraphers across the world, writing the first letter of their alphabets.
This will be followed by calligraphy demonstrations by Narayana Bhatthathiri, Achyut Palav, Inku Kumar and Dilbag Singh.
The event will conclude with a panel discussion on ‘calligraphy education and practice’ with panelists Prof Santosh Kshirsagar, Prof Tarun Deep Girdher, Hiral Bhagat, Achyut Palav, Narayana Bhattathiri, Prof GV Sreekumar. The panel will be moderated by Akshaya Thombre.
