Sunil Garg, hony general secretary at the AIFMP, spoke to PrintWeek India, said, “The pendulum is swinging back to print but it purely depends on the vision and efforts of a particular segment and it varies from one printer to another. As far as the exit of print firms from the Delhi jurisdiction due to stringent green policies, we are trying to get a uniform policy throughout India, from the Ministry of Environment considering all printing presses in the category of green.”

While talking about the highlights of this year, Garg, said, “Drupa this year is coming up in a big way, explaining print version 4.0 and the Indian industry should look for press technology with ease.” Garg mentioned that the AIFMP has a stall at the show plus the Federation will be spearheading India day celebrations on most days.

Speaking of the Delhi print market, Garg, said, “Most of the big expansions are coming up in NCR as the land is less expensive." He added, "the Haryana and UP state governments are also reviewing the same for NCR region."

Garg threw light on the digital sector when he stated, the Delhi numbers seems to indicate a higher growth rate as compared to Mumbai. The Delhi government is promoting industries within the town by creating clusters, which will ease the expansion for the Delhi print segment.”

AIFMP is also organising a forum whereby printers can talk to their customers in order to gauge the impact of print spends. Garg said the National Printers Conclave which will be held in June 2016 and will be telecast on Zee News and Zee Business. During the June event, highly placed members of trade chambers, vendors, publishers, printers, and buyers will be a part of the event.

The pro-active Garg also spoke about "a serious concern" with the export taxes and customs issues which could embolden the small print firms in India, who constitute 75% of the AIFMP members. He said, "This is a matter of serious concern. We have already made representation to FM in this regard. And we are awaiting a positive reply in this matter."

The fifth year of Romancing Print, an annual event hosted in Delhi by the AIFMP, will see Dr Subhash Chandra, the chairman of Essel Group and Zee deliver the keynote address.

In addition, the 2016 edition of Romancing Print which will be held on 14 May at the Maneckshaw Centre in Dhaula Kuan in New Delhi will see Shiv Khera deliver a motivational talk. The previous editions of the conference have seen 1000 printers (in toto) from all over India. This year too, the organisers are confident that they would not fall short of the 300 print delegates mark.
