Surat’s digital print specialist Tasveer Digital eyes doubling its volumes with Xerox iGen4

Surat-based Tasveer Digital Press has recently completed 16 lakh prints (14x20 and 14x26-inch) on its Xerox iGen press installed less than six months ago. Tasveer ventured into digital CMYK printing after spending three decade in photography colour lab business.

“Tasveer Color Lab was established by my father who saw opportunity in the sector. In those days, demand for quality colour labs was sky-high,” said Timir Naik, director, Tasveer Digital Press. “We are still actively functional, however, the company is utilised solely for RGB printing jobs. Tasveer Digital Press is a dedicated CMYK unit of the company,” he added.

Explaining his decision to step in to the digital printing market, he said “Around 2010, we realised that CMYK digital printing has been making huge inroads to India, and that’s when we decided to test the market using an entry-level digital printing machine. We started with a Konica Minolta 650 digital press and then within one year bought Xerox Color 1000. We bought the iGen4 only six months ago to cater to photobook, catalogue and variable data printing jobs.”

In the recent Gujarat assembly elections, Tasveer Digital Press was handed over the job to produce candidate forms for 12 seats. “It was the wider maximum print size of the iGen 4 that helped us to bag the job. We have secured a growth of around 40% since the installation of the Color 1000 press and doubled our volume since the installation of iGen4. We now produce around 8 lakh A4 prints every month. The iGen4 press has helped us to print 2.5 lakh prints of 14x20 and 14x26 sizes. 70% of this volume is 14x20 prints.”

Pankaj Kalra, head, graphic communications business, Xerox India, said, “Built on Xerox’s proven, award-winning iGen platform. Since its introduction at Drupa 2008, the iGen4 Press has been used by more than 1,000 customers to produce millions of profitable pages per month.”
