The company has invested in Bobst converting equipment, the Novacut and Lila, and a KBA six-colour coater UV press, which will integrate biscuit and confectionary manufacturing with in-house packaging.

BP Aggarwal, chairman and managing director of Surya Food & Agro, a visionary entrepreneur, has built the Priya Gold biscuit brand which, according to the Aggarwal, has become a household name all over India. “We have also diversified into other confectionary products like chocolates and candies, and with this growing product portfolio, we thought of having an in-house packaging converting line to have better control on supplies, cost and to maintain occasional confidentiality during new product launches.”

Most of the Surya’s packaging material requirement is either in flexible laminates, litho laminated flute three-ply boxes and few premium products in solid board. “Thus all our machines for the new packaging plant have been configured to handle litho laminated three-ply board and also solid board,” said Aggarwal.

He added, Bobst Novacut die-cutter and specially the Lila folder-gluer, the proven machine to fold and glue three-ply microflute boxes, was shortlisted by us. Aggarwal said, “My philosophy has always been to invest in the best and proven technology when it comes to any equipment whether it is in food processing, packaging converting or end-of-line packing.

He concluded, “Reliability matters a lot since we are in the FMCG space and time to market is very important in this business.”
