Taco Visions’ 3D lenticular prints during UP elections
Technology plays an important role during an electoral process. We have seen how in the recent years, the internet and the social media have becomes a key tool for political parties. However, the use of 3D lenticular prints during elections was still unheard of, until it proved to be a key promotional tool during the recently concluded assembly elections in UP. The credit for this must go to Mumbai-based Taco Visions.

Established in 2000, Taco Visions have been a pioneer in promoting 3D lenticular products in India. Talking to PrintWeek India, Vinit Jadhav of Taco Visions explained how the company managed to introduce 3D lenticular prints in election campaigns.
“It all began in September 2016, when we thought of giving lenticular products a push for the forthcoming elections,” said Jadhav. “Since the next major event was the UP elections, we decided to approach Bhartiya Janata Party.”
For this, the company prepared a few 3D samples, for presentation in the preliminary stage. As expected, the decision-makers of the party were impressed. Considering their huge requirement for different products, the costing was shared and the company received the final order in November 2016.
“As soon as the revised artworks were sent to us, we completed this Herculean task within a span of 15 days. We supplied 3Dimensional A3 size posters of Narendra Modi with Amit Shah, displaying the salient features of their achievements, 3Dimensional pocket size calendars, 3Dimensional badges for the volunteers, and 3Dimensional standees,” Jadhav added.
Jadhav said the company sent the consignments in lakhs though he did not want to divulge the exact number of jobs. He was, however, quick to add that reactions to the 3D lenticular prints were unprecedented.
“In fact, as soon as the consignment reached UP, people started thronging the Bharatiya Janata Party office, to catch a glimpse of the 3Dimensional picture of Narendra Modi and the lotus logo. The 3D posters were put up across shops and the pocket size 3D calendars were distributed to the supporters during the rally,” he said.
Now that the results are out, Jadhav said the company is proud of its valuable contribution towards this victory. “I hope the trend continues for all the future election campaigns,” he added.
Taco Visions had also printed and supplied similar 3D products for the Bharatiya Janata Party (Mumbai Pradesh), for the Municipal Corporation elections held in February 2017.
The company, which has successfully adopted innovative printing as its forte, was awarded the prestigious Lenstar Award in the Artistic category at Drupa 2012. In 2016, the company was nominated again for the same award, as well as in the large format lenticular category.
Taco Visions also received all three gold, silver and bronze awards in lenticular printing conducted by the International Association of Printing House Craftsman (IAPHC) in Minneapolis, the US in 2010.
The company was featured in the 2012 edition of The Limca Book of Records for conceptualisation and installing the longest (68ftx8ft.) animated 3D (lenticular) wall mural at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai.
