The keystone of the factory is the KBA Rapida 106 seven-colour plus coater press. Aditya Surana of Indo Polygraph Machinery, which represents KBA in India, detailed the machine configuration, while speaking to PrintWeek India.
It is a combi press which is suitable for both UV and conventional inks. This machine comes equipped with three interdeck UV dryers, end of the press UV dryer and IR hot air dryer. The fully loaded press features throughput speed of 18,000 sheets per hour, automatic plate changing system, automatic non-stop feeder and logistics at the delivery.
The machine boasted its prowess during the inauguration as it printed the Ganesha picture, which has been a tradition at TCPL every time it installs a new press.
Ahead in the process flow, there are two Bobst Novacuts and two Bobst folder-gluers – Ambition and Visionfold, which sit in pairs in order to convert the printed sheets churned out by the single printing press.

Both the Novacuts are equipped with auto stripping. The folder-gluers can handle straightline and crush lock bottom cartons, said Venugopal Menon, vice president, BU sheetfed-Indian Subcontinent, Bobst India.
In addition, there is Brausse 1050 FCA automatic foil stamping machine supplied by Suba Solutions, Heiber + Schroeder window patching machine, a single-colour ZHL gravure machine from SLKCG, a three-camera carton inspection system from Sergusa and YiiLee film laminating machine and Paktek flute lamination machine for corrugation.

With this fully loaded packaging arsenal, TCPL’s Guwahati plant will convert 750 tonnes of paperboard per month, said managing director, Saket Kanoria in conversation with PrintWeek India.
The eight-acre campus with 85,000 sq/ft build-up area, which is located in the Industrial Growth Centre of Chaygaon in the outskirts of Guwahati, is spacious enough to accommodate multifold expansion and addition to the production base.
