TNPL receives ICC’s Water Stewardship Award
Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers (TNPL) has won the Water Stewardship Award during the India Corporate Governance and Sustainability Vision Summit 2020 organised by Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Kolkata at New Delhi.

ICC conducted the 10th edition of India Corporate Governance and Sustainability Vision Award, which comprised categories such as Sustainability Performance, Sustainability Reporting, Water Stewardship, and Corporate Governance.
TNPL won the Water Stewardship category after several rounds of screening and evaluation conducted by eminent jury members selected by ICC.
The criteria of evaluation was based on dedicated policy on water stewardship or water management, disclosure of water stewardship policy, water footprint due to company’s operations, innovations that the company has implemented, mapping on water sources of the company’s operations, and reduction of water usage and discharge.
Organisation from various sectors such as pulp and paper, power, steel, cement, carbon black, and banking participated in the competition.
S Subramanian, GM, R&D and QC, team leader, TNPL, made presentation on circular economy concept implemented in TNPL for water conservation and waste water recycling. The award was presented to TNPL by VK Saraswat, member of NITI Aayog, Government of India, and Injeti Srinivas, secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India.

Set up by a group of pioneering industrialists led by GD Birla, ICC was closely associated with the Indian Freedom Movement, as the first organised voice of indigenous Indian industry.
