Telangana Offset Printers Association (TOPA) celebrated Printer’s Day on 24 February 2016 at Hotel Western Ashoka in Hyderabad. The centre point of discussion was the challenges faced by the printers in the state.
C Ravinder Reddy, president at TOPA spoke about the activities of the association and shared the need to concentrate on the pressing issues of printers in Telangana. He emphasised on the need for the revision of power tariff for small printers, and the problems faced by them by pinpointing the prevalent rates of power for small scale printers and MSME.
“TOPA has taken steps to secure funds under, international cooperation, offered by the ministry of MSME, Government of India. An amount of five lakhs has been sanctioned towards the travel assistance for the small printers in Telangana to attend Drupa, Germany,” said Reddy.
Reddy also highlighted the implementation of lean management training programme towards the effective management of the printing clusters.
Reddy further added, “With the efforts of the association, HP has agreed to arrange a visit to HP Indigo pre-Drupa event in Israel for select few print CEOs in Telangana.”
D Nagarjuna, advisor, TOPA, said, “The human resource is the biggest challenge for the printing industry and the printing education institutes should come closer in the industry to benefit the students.”
K Srinivas Reddy of Mana Telangana, said, “Printers in Telangana, have bright future and Hyderabad being a hub has a potential for growth and the development of printing and packaging.”
M V Reddy, IAS, director of technical education was the chief guest for the event, while Dr K Rama Chandra Murthy, editorial director of Sakshi Telugu Daily, K Srinivasan Reddy, managing editor of Manna Telangana, and P Narendra of Pragati Offset were among the guest list.
The event was attended by the printers from Telangana, students and staff from the Government Institute of Printing Technology (GIPT).
