Trend watch: CTP in Andhra Pradesh
In Andhra Pradesh, UV CTCP which was once a prime CTP technology has lost its viability as a result of shrinking volumes and has been replaced by either violet or thermal. Until last few months the market, which was dominated by violet technology, has seen a rise in the installation of thermal CTP systems.

As per PrintWeek India’s survey, in terms of CTP system installations, Andhra Pradesh has 40 thermal, 29 violet, and 11 UV CTCP systems in total of which 11 thermal, 13 violet, and 11 UV CTCP systems have been installed since fiscal year 2011-12.
In last quarter, four-five new CTP systems have been installed in AP. It was a general feeling among all the printers here that packaging is the future but suddenly book printing has seen a surge. The printers who earlier confidently opted for post-press and finishing systems have now become cautious before investing due to reducing volumes.
PWI View
The CTP segment will be saturated in next three years. Though new installations will reduce, the refurbished market is here to stay.
