UPM Raflatac launches RX 15 and Vanish

At Labelexpo Brussels, UPM Raflatac introduced a line-up of services and solutions. The new launches include the ‘RX’ series of adhesives. According to the company, the RX 15 bonds aggressively and enduringly to polar substrates like steel, glass, polycarbonate, nylon and ABS plastic. The ultra high tack is matched by very high cohesion, which provides tested resistance to chemicals and UV light, and prevents shearing under high temperatures.

Martti Vähälä, the labelling solutions manager at UPM Raflatac, said, “When viable alternatives present themselves, history shows that solvent adhesives are quickly abandoned. The solvent-free RX 15 closes one chapter and opens another in the continual evolution of self-adhesive labelling.”

Vanish was the second launch by UPM Raflatac at the exhibition for European market. At 23-microns, these ultra-thin PET label faces are perfect for the ultimate no-label look in food, beverage and personal care labelling. Vanish boosts productivity with longer runs, trouble-free converting, and more efficient transport and storage.

Stefano Pistoni, end-use manager, UPM Raflatac, EMEIA, said, “Vanish films are a tremendous step forward in seamless ‘no-label-look’ labelling with support for highest quality and innovative graphic design. We’re leveraging the latest material advances for packaging material reductions and higher productivity, while offering brands a fresh level of differentiation and enhanced perception of quality.”

UPM highlighted renewed range of label stocks for digital print-on-demand (POD) with laser/LED or inkjet technology. Short to medium-volume print-runs ‘on demand’ is a flexible solution for producing high-quality colour labels for product labelling and promotion. UPM Raflatac’s POD range answers this demand with water-resistant paper and film combinations specified for particular segments and digital flexibility.
