“We have been in the luxury and confectionary packaging segments for quite some time. And with this award we have proved our expertise in what we can do. We are proud that we can do such kind of boxes for Indian market,” said Manoj Mehta, chairman of Utility PrintPack.
Cadbury’s innovation workshop in November last year, saw 10 participants from the field of converters from flexible, tin and packaging take part. Besides Utility, Parksons Packaging and International Print O Pac participated in the workshop. “We designed roughly 40 concepts for the workshop, one of which was the Double Decker Pack,” said Mehta.
According to Mehta, constructing the design for the double decker pack was the biggest challenge. “This involved fabricating the box, double decking the box and pasting the paper such that the decker moves freely. Printing the Cadbury blue consistently was also a huge challenge.”
The box was produced using the Emmeci rigid box maker, where the gally was constructed. Printing was done on six-colour Heidelberg CD 74 using UV inks from Siegwerk and Micro Inks. Gold foil stamping was done on the top and bottom. Spot UV was accomplished with the help of Sakurai screen printing machine. Cover for pack was produced using 3mm thick Kappa board. Paper used throughout was Bilt art paper 150gsm.
Besides the Cadbury accolade, Utility’s other awards win include PrintWeek India’s Packaging Converter of the Year 2009, 2011 and 2013; appreciation award from Raymonds and also an appreciation letter from Godrej.
“We have always been willing to push the envelope in providing new and exciting services to our customers, and this award reflects our team’s attitude towards innovation to create a compelling product,” concluded Mehta.
