UV Graphic Technologies launches UV LED
UV Graphic Technologies has launched its new UV LED curing systems for flexo, offset, gravure and letterpress. The USP of the machine, as the managing director of the company, Abhay Datta, explained, is that it is a completely ‘made in India’ system.

“LED-UV is the future of UV technology,” said Datta. Speaking to PrintWeek India at Labelexpo, Datta highlighted the benefits of LED-UV, which will make the conventional UV an obsolete technology in the near future.
LED-UV, it is claimed, consumes 10% power of the conventional UV system. Plus, the lamp life is of 50,000 hours, which equals to 30 lamp changes of conventional UV systems. Datta said, “Besides power saving, it is also the uptime of the lamp that is crucial. In case of conventional UV systems, the lamp needs time to warm up, and then it has to remain on during the make-ready. With LED-UV, the lamp instantly switches on and off.”
As a technology, LED generates zero-heat. So, the need to have chilled rolls or chilled drums is eliminated. Also, the footprint is way too small as compared to the control panels of conventional systems, Datta added. “It is applicable for all the different printing technologies – flexo, offset, gravure and letterpress. However, it is specific to the inks. Since UV LED is an open platform (without patent) most of the ink players are gearing up to manufacture LED inks.”
The company also highlighted its UltraFlex video plate-mounter, which was launched at Labelexpo Europe in Brussels last year. Till date, the company has installed 30 kits worldwide.
