Vasai’s Meera Offset boosts quality quotient with Autoprint Checkmate

In a bid to supply defect-free cartons to its pharma clients, Vasai-based Meera Offset, has opted for Autoprint’s Checkmate carton inspection system. The deal was inked at Pamex 2017 exhibition.

Prateek Chamaria, director, Meera Offset, said, “It is a three-camera system with two top and one bottom camera that will ensure our carton output is up to the stringent quality mark that we set for ourselves. The software that drives Checkmate has an intuitive interface and is extremely user-friendly. Secondly, the engineering efficiency of the product is impressive.”

Meera Offset Printers, which is in its 45^th year of operations, specialises in FMCG and pharma mono cartons and patient information leaflets, operates from Vasai plant that houses six multi-colour offset printing machines and a host of post-press and finishing kit.

The new addition, according to Chamaria, will also benefit the company to up its internal quality standards and also boost bottomline.

“The other advantage of using an automatic carton inspection system is that now we can analyse the defects and then go back to our printing and finishing process and see what the root cause of the defect is and fix it. This will help us improve overall systems and processes across the production line and reduce wastage and improve profitability,” said Sumeet Chamaria, director, Meera Offset.

To further improve its quality quotient, Chamaria is also scouting for proof-checking software. “It’s the need of the day. We have shortlisted a few products and will soon finalise the deal,” said Chamaria.

The printing company, which is helmed by four directors – Prateek Chamaria, Sumeet Chamaria, Sushil Chamaria and Subodh Chamaria – employs 90 employees and converts 150 tonnes of paper and paperboard monthly.
