Speaking to PrintWeek India, Ranesh Bajaj, managing director at Vinsak, revealed that Lombardi Synchroliner Hyderabad’s Citrus had booked during the Labelexpo Europe 2017, has been shipped and will be installed by the end of January 2018. “It’s a special machine – it has an overlap unit to build a three-ply label, a mid-stream die-cutting unit, which will help produce value-add labels.”

Vinsak has already installed a 14-unit Lombardi press at Hi-Tech in Hyderabad, taking the total tally of Lombardi presses in India to 11, seven of which are wider-width 430mm and 440mm presses. “The trend is moving to wider widths, and printing labels on more substrates. A label printing company now wants to look at shrink sleeves, IML, heat transfer, cartons. It’s not just about self-adhesive labels now,” said Bajaj.

Vinsak also represents Iwasaki presses for labels in India. Bajaj cited installations of two two Iwasaki TR2 offset intermittent presses, one in Sivakasi at Seljegat Printers and the second in Bengaluru at Wintek Flexo Print, while explaining the benefits of the press. “Without the need for getting a digital press, it allows the company to do high quality litho printed labels in short to medium runs, an when need be do long-runs too,” said Bajaj.

On the second day of the show, Vinsak hosted a seminar – Labelling simplified, co-sponsored by Lombardi and Iwasaki, at Hotel Tunga Regale in Andheri East. Over 40 top label printers attended and participated, highlight of which was a panel discussion on current trends.
