“With the new debossing press, it is possible to decorate folding cartons or labels in a new and cost-efficient way,” Achim Kurreck, CEO, HC Moog, said. “Debossing is also the key for sustainable brand protection if it comes to, for example, hidden images.”
Looking ahead, Kurreck said there has been a complete change to paper-based packaging, with foiling of paper or board becoming obsolete. “For Moog, it’s a good opportunity to show that sheetfed rotogravure can print with brilliance and fully recyclable inks instead. A second change I see is the recyclability of the printed product. The only three good printing methods with best recycling results are offset, dry toner and gravure,” he said.
What should the Indian printers do to improve their production methods? “I recommend modern printing presses and equipment from European suppliers who can implement digital information into the workflow of the printing house,” Kurreck said.
Also, preventive maintenance is the key. “Moog presses have a digital information interface for the production planning, production, maintenance and the operation manual. Schooling is also the right investment into the improvement of efficiency,” he said.
