Visitors throng Bombay Exhibition Centre for Photofair

Long lines greeted visitors as they arrived at the Bombay Exhibition Centre for the 19th edition of Consumer Electronic Imaging Fair, which began on 9 January 2014 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai.

The fair, well known as Photofair, covers a total area of 20,000 sq/m. It aims to provide a broader platform to meet the increasing demand of exhibitors of consumer imaging products.

The trade exhibition showcases the latest innovations in digital print and sees key players in the segment. To promote this business and to impact a larger ecosystem, many players like Glo Colour Labs, SRK Creative and Mazda Imaging are organising special sessions for wedding photographers, wedding planners and event agencies in India.

In additions to this, manufacturers such as Epson, HP, TechNova among others are showcasing their range of products for photography and digital imaging segment and conducting live demonstrations.

According to industry reports, commercial photo printing market is worth Rs 3,072 crore.The Indian wedding industry is valued at Rs 10 lakh crore ($182 billion) and the wedding photography market is estimated to be around Rs 1,800 crore.

According to Appadurai of HP India, this is a very conservative estimate. “The wedding photography segment tolls around Rs 5,000 crore. Our focus is on North India as it has immense potential in store for photography segment than the southern states. For instance, a state like Kerala has 20 HP Indigo presses, while the most populated state of Uttar Pradesh has only four.” HP India’s stall features Indigo 5600 and Indigo 7600 presses.

TechNova is representing Canson, manufacturer of fine art substrates, for the first time at Photofair.

Organised by All India Photographic Trade and Industry Association, the fair will gather together comprehensively all service providers involved with this Consumer Electronic Imaging Industry and a footfall over 1,00,000 visitors is expected from across the globe.
