Cosmo Films adds its tenth BOPP line, ups annual capacity by 40%
Delhi-headquartered Cosmo Films, a manufacturer of bi-axially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films has announced the start of its tenth 10.4m BOPP line in Gujarat. With the installation of this new line, the company will increase its annual capacity by 40%, taking it to 1.96 lakh MT. The company’s current annual capacity stands at 1.36 lakh MT.

Welbound to bring USA-based Econocorp’s end-of-line packaging kit to India
Consolidating its efforts to address the packaging challenges in supply chain logistics with systems that can prevent product damages in transit, Mumbai-based Impel Services has partnered with the USA-based Econocorp for joint activities in South Asia. Impel, the packaging equipment arm of the post-press specialist Welbound Group, will sell and service Econocorp’s case packing, tray forming and cartoning machines in the region.

Innopack F&B Confex slated for 11-12 April 2017
The fifth annual InnoPack F&B Confex 2017 which is scheduled on the 11 - 12 April, 2017 at The Leela, Gurgaon will see F&B industry professionals gather in order to congregate, network, exchange ideas and knowledge, and discuss the future of the F&B packaging industry.

The 2016 edition gathered 25+ exhibiting companies and 200 attendees from top companies. According to the organisers, the unique combination of “confex” model - exhibition floor, conferences and innovative networking platforms, allows the participant to learn, meet and interact with the pioneers of the industry.

KHS’s Ahmedabad factory is now ISO 9001:2015 certified
The manufacturer of filling and packaging systems, KHS Group, has announced that all of its production sites globally are now certified according to the new, revised ISO 9001:2015 standard. The KHS factory in Ahmedabad has been awarded the certificate for the first time. TUV Rheinland Cert has confirmed a uniform standard at all KHS production locations.

Shell launches Advance Ultra engine oil in limited edition packs

Shell Lubricants has introduced its Advance Ultra engine oil in new limited edition packs. The new packaging aims to highlight Shell Advance’s motorsports legacy and its decade-long association with Ducati. The butterfly pack is a one-of-its-kind pack design being introduced by Shell Lubricants, a first by any lubricant brand in the country. The new premium packaging design is part of the brand’s product strategy for 2017 to introduce a clutter-breaking design and establish a distinct standout look for the products

Tetra Pak launches an ecosystem for sustainable recycling
In a move to encourage recycling of used cartons, Tetra Pak has announced the launch of ‘Cartons Le Aao, Classroom Banao’ campaign on 15 February. This initiative is part of its ongoing flagship programme ‘Go Green with Tetra Pak’, and pledges to recycle over eight-lakh cartons and donate 200 school desks for underprivileged schools in 2017.

Uflex develops game-changer polyester film for pharma packaging
Noida-based flexible packaging giant Uflex has come up with a special polyester film as an alternative to the tradition BOPA and PVC substrates used in cold formed pharma packaging. According to the company, the special polyester film will eventually replace the top and bottom substrates of the conventional cold formed alu–alu laminate to a whole new structure comprising 36 micron special polyester; 50 micron soft aluminium foil and 36 micron special polyester.
