The survey report which saw more than 50 packaging professionals respond was mentored by WhatPackaging? magazine team and executed by five students of the SIES graduate school of technology, revealed that brands and converters acknowledge the fact that consumers have a preference for environmentally conscious brands and products.
Two themes which saw an overwhelming majority agreement were: packaging is often over-engineered; and there is a knowledge gap in the industry pertaining to recycling and sustainable processes and practices.
The study also showed a missed opportunity about FSSAI standards. Respondents felt that the government authorities should permit recycled materials for food grade applications.
The full results will be revealed in the January issue of WhatPackaging? magazine.
