The who's who of print lauded by Suresh Ramakrishnan

On 6 October, at the PrintWeek India Awards Presentation Ceremony held at Grand Hyatt, Suresh Ramakrishnan, publishing director, Haymarket Media (India) addressed the audience. In his speech, he provided an update and highlighted the forthcoming initiatives by PrintWeek India and the company.

Ramakrishnan addressed the sixth edition of PrintWeek India Awards The chief guests of the evening were Tushar Gandhi, Dev Nair, president AIFMP, K S Khurana, president, IPAMA and Dr N C Saha from the Institute of Indian Packaging (IIP).

"We received some outstanding samples from 122 print firms. Total 88 firms have entered our short list, carefully and painstakingly selected from more than 1,280 samples by 46 jury members, comprising of print buyers and print specialists. The 46 jury members have together awarded the best in print."

Ramakrishnan highlighted some of the growth indicators; an expected CAGR of 5.9%, print players in the lower tier showing some ‘fantastic disruptions, inkjet technology's double digit growth at 18%, the significant jump in 3D printing, and the increased awareness of going green. "These are some of the indicators that augur well for the future of print firms."

In his presentation, he highlighted the robust growth indicators of the packaging sector and announced a standalone packaging and label magazine in the near future. He applauded the packaging leaders like the Paruchuris of Pragati Offset, the Kejriwals of Parksons, the Patels of Shilp Gravures, the Goels of Any Graphics and the Singhvis of International Print-o-Pac.

"While print continues to grow, the packaging sector has an even better story to tell. In fact, this sector, according to our study, is expected to grow at a CAGR of 12.3%. India is expected to jump from being the sixth largest packaging market to the fourth largest in four to five years’ time. Our aim is to spin this growth off as a standalone magazine in the near future." 

Ramakrishnan also announced PrintWeek India's official media partnership with IPAMA to publish a show daily at PrintPack 2015. On the company's forthcoming initiatives, he said, "We have been making significant investments across the digital arena; there have been some new shows too, both in the exhibition and conference/seminar formats. It makes us proud to note that our effort to bring relevant content to your doorstep is useful and in some way may be really tiny but we do help change the prospects of this industry."
