First time participant Quenby Transfers pick up their first PrintWeek India Award in the Screen Printer of the Year category. ‘Mario with gold letters’, ‘Iron Man with silver metallic’, ‘Cheese with blue metallic gloss’ and ‘Spiderman with hot foil stamping’ were the submissions by Quenby Transfers which really engrossed the judges.
The entire process required three or more passes through the Svecia fully automatic flatbed screen printing machine. Sheets needed to be coated with special matt release by the screen printing press, before the image was printed using Heildelberg 104 offset press with a spectrum analyser with low oxidising vegetable oil-based inks. The sheets need to be allowed seasoning and followed by gold and adhesive, hot foil stamping, silver metallic and adhesive or metallic blue and adhesive.
The 25-year old Leicestershire-based firm in UK, relocated its base to Bengaluru where it presently stands on 21,000 sq/ft factory over a 28,000 sq/ft campus. The company specialises in producing photo-realistic heat transfer and information label for garment industry, producing five-six million pieces mainly for the European market. A combination of screen and offset presses adorn the pressroom. In-house pre-press includes a CTP system.
