Printing a brochure can sometimes be a very complex undertaking, requiring attractive and clean design and print. It should “go beyond the surface glitz to demonstrate a sense of how it fits into the brand’s communication and engagement activities,” said one jury member, who was judging the entries.

According to the judges, two companies, Silverpoint Press and Vishwakala Printers, and their entries, integrated these qualities well and were declared the joint winners.

Silverpoint Press, the Mumbai-based print company won the Award for their catalogue entries – Lodha Evoq, Inspire-Create, Jaguar F-type, and Torque Necklaces.

While the judges were impressed with the catalogue entries Inspire-Create, Jaguar F-type, and Torque Necklaces, the catalogue, Lodha Evoq, which was a combination of the catalogue itself and ship case, came in for special mention. The catalogue had a distinctive image, look and feel, said the judges and observed the careful planning that went into the processes to achieve the results. The catalogue was printed for Lodha Dwellers. It had a print run of 1,000 copies. The text job was printed on 200gsm Impressive Absolut while using five-colour, CMYK and special orange. The two+two-colour printed cover included offline UV curing on silver laminated card. The same was done for the ship case.

Bengaluru-based Vishwakala Printers, one of the joint winners of this category in 2011, returns again as the joint winner for its catalogue entries – Tanishq – A Ganga 2013, Phoenix Choose Today, Friday By Allen Solly, and Louis Philippe SS 13. According to the judges, the catalogues were simple, but had good engagement value, especially the catalogue, Louis Philippe SS 13 Shoe catalogue.

All the catalogues were printed on 285gsm Natural Evolution white board for cover while the text was printed on 145gsm Natural Evolution white paper, except the Phonenix Choose Today catalogue, where 200gsm Natural Evolution White board for inner pages and 230gsm translucent sheet was used for the inner jacket. Apogee X workflow managed the single pass CMYK with online aqueous coated prints.

According to Vishwakala, the Louis Philippe catalogue required hot debossing and board to board pasting. “We had to maintain a certain temperature to attain colour consistency, because the colour of the cover changes when it comes in contact with hot stamping,” explains the company statement.
