Men and women together can make society beautiful
Ours is a family business started by my husband Swapan Roy. I joined our family garment screen printing business about 12 years ago. Being a life partner, I thought it to be my responsibility to lend support to my husband so that his burden is reduced. I now look after the overall management, such as production, procurement, labour management, accounts and even customer care. And I make it a point to accompany him whenever he visits garment exhibitions.

Before our full-fledged automation, we had huge set up of manual screen printing (both long manual tables and hand operated carousel DTG screen printing lines). Being a labour-intensive activity, I realised the gravity of the problems. Thus, I gave moral support to my husband when he was planning to buy automatic machine.
I can say both men and women together with unity can make the society beautiful. As I said, in my case, I was behind my husband's every crucial decision making, not that he cannot decide on his own. But I give him confidence and moral support so that the ultimate decision that he takes is fruitful and beneficial for our family business.
Being a woman with keen appetite for cooking, I observed that there is a similarity between cooking and garment screen printing; in cooking our family members get bored if I prepare stereotype food; they want variety and delicacy in food. This is what customers want these days in garment decoration. They want us to experiment with colours, designs, value addition, special effects, high density, etc.
Surely, behind our success, we have a committed and satisfied manpower. We take care of our employees, ensure that they are satisfied. Automation has given them the much-needed comfort. I feel if our labourers are happy only then can we be successful.
