“These students are future CEOs of media agencies. Nowadays, agencies do not collaborate with vendors for their printing needs. This visit was organised with an aim to develop the collaboration and work hand-in-glove with print vendors and understand the intricacies of the process of printing,” said Sawant.
Sawant, who is also a visiting faculty at XIC, added, “XIC realised this need for collaboration and wanted the students to be acquainted with the nitty gritties of print and hence invited me to teach the technical aspects of printing.”
“The institution had set aside six lectures for learning the print and printing process. I decided that if I organise an industrial visit, it would break the monotony of classroom learning and the students would also get an opportunity for a practical application of theoretical knowledge,” added Sawant.
The visit to the Superlekha premises involved a brief tour of the screen printing division, the pre-press studio and the post-press division.
The facility was visited by 60 students in two batches of 30, and lasted a day. Based on this visit, the students were also asked to prepare a group presentation which would be delivered in class.
