The D95A, which was put on for display during the three-day exhibition, is targeted towards printers with short-run jobs of books and manuals, photo publishing or transactional promotional printing. The machine can produce around 100 A4 pages per minute, while D125 can output around 125 A4 pages per minute. Both the machines have a recommended average monthly volume of 70,000 to 6,00,000 pages per month.
Along with the launch, a Xerox 770 was also sold to JMD Color Scan.
Pankaj Kalra, associate director and head of graphic communications, Xerox India said, “The D125 and D95A takes over from the Xerox 4112 and 4120 series of presses. So those who are seeking to upgrade their 4112s or 4120s can opt for this. These are the entry-level equipments for those printers who don’t want to invest more than Rs 25 lakh on the press. These new series of presses are also capable of handling 52 gsm sheets, which is quite different from the other machines.”
Xerox has already installed the first D125 in Mumbai. However, Kalra said that the details of the same will be disclosed at an appropriate time.
At Drupa, Jeff Jacobson, leading Xerox’s graphic communications charge had said, ‘Drupa is only the beginning’, explaining it for the Indian markets, Kalra said, “We plan to introduce several new technologies and equipments in the near future. The Xerox 770 was launched in April and before six months we have introduced the D95 and D125. At the same time, Xerox 770 has earned a good install-base. ”
At Drupa, Xerox iGen 150 and CiPress 325 presses were launched. Asked when these machines would be available in the Indian markets, Kalra said, “We are working on cases with few selected customers, and if we see that the market has a demand for these machines, we will have them in India very soon. The iGen 150 is already available globally, but they are on limited allocation. We decided not to immediately introduce them to India because we have been expanding the market for the iGen 4 and iGen 4 EXP presses. Currently, we are planning to open up the market for iGen 150 by Q1 2013.”
“As far as the Xerox CiPres325 production inkjet system is concerned, I believe that the market for inkjet press is still shaping up. It’s still some time before people would have enough captive volume to run jobs on the inkjet presses and derive ROI from them,” he concluded.
