Through live demonstration of the new Color 1000 press, the event showcased its applications in the graphic arts segment especially photo album market.

Speaking at the launch event in Mumbai, Vipin Tuteja, executive director, marketing and international business, Xerox India said: "This next generation product is well positioned between our hugely successful DocuColor 8002 and iGen4 digital colour press. Xerox has added an optional clear toner station that brings prints to life. With flexible workflow, feeding and finishing, the Xerox Color 1000 press will help our customers as their business volumes grows".

Commenting on the much awaited launch of this machine, Mr. Tuteja said, "The logistics support and the inventories required for the Indian market were being worked upon along with the new applications it enables. It's a time consuming process since the digital print market over here functions in a different way. The strategy is to pull further and grow in the photo album segment."

The Color 1000 Press will target print applications like high capacity stacking, hole punching and folding to square fold booklets, layflats and an array of finishing options. "In terms of price of the machine, it lies below iGen4. It opens an opportunity to those printers who want to go for an iGen4 but are restrained by cost," said Tuteja.

Xerox has been hugely successful with its business module for DC 242, DC 252 and DC 260 with a combined installation base of more than 200 machines in India. At the recently concluded Print Pack Sign Expo in Pune, Global 5 Technologies sold two DC 242 presses and one DC 252.
