In a country where sharing their wedding albums with hundreds of people and keeping it as an asset, photo-album specialists need technology to enhance the photo-viewing or browsing experience and retain interest.

“We have seen the results of the kit, and we believe that it will enable us to produce specialised photo applications, which will be a compelling product, one that will offer a 3D feel and touch the senses of the person scanning the photo-album,” said M Krishna Chaitanya, owner and founder, Zoom Digital Press.

Chaitanya added, “Of course, it’s a new technology and we will have to create a market for it. Designing and pre-press, both will play a key role. And we hope that with our skill and Scodix technology, we will turn our business more rewarding.”

Besides Vishakhapatnam, Zoom has a facility in Hyderabad and two HP Indigo printing presses, a 3500 and a 5500. The company has plans of starting a new branch in Vijayawada.

Kobi Bar, chief executive officer & co founder, Scodix, who spoke to PWI, said, “This is the third order for Scodix digital embossing machine from India after PM Digital and Chanakya Mudrak and it shows that the market is continuously adopting instruments for print enhancement.”

Scodix was established 2007 and has an installed base of more than 60 machines worldwide.

The Scodix can accept both digital and offset printed sheet. Coated, Uncoated and laminated paper and boards can be used in addition to other synthetic materials. Even though it is an offline process it claims to deliver accurate registration. The maximum sheet size it can handle is 20x29-inches (B2).
