Atul Dharne, technical head at the Navi Mumbai-based PrintMail says the software helps in producing high impact, personalised communication.
What does the software do?
GMC software helps in implementing high impact, personalised communications that increase customer satisfaction and loyalty, drive new customer acquisition, improve productivity and cut costs.
Did you look at any other similar softwares?
Yes, we did look at other similar softwares and did an analysis based on ease of use. This includes: input and output formats it can handle, scripting power, ease of combining business logic with the core data.
Why did you make the purchase?
We wanted a strong foothold in the area of transpromo. This is an untapped part of communication in India with a big potential. After studying the options and due analysis, we made the purchase.
What features do you particularly like?
It’s intuitive to use. It has a good mix of controls – macro and micro. The software gives full control over the data and the document composition. Its whitespace management is a real value-add. The PDF library makes handling and customisation of files very easy.
Is there anything that you dislike?
Nothing comes to my mind.
Is there anything that you wish it had that it doesn’t?
There are a few customisations for the Indian market as the data format is unique. So there are some formats for which we would like GMC to create components to seamlessly handle them. These are in the pipeline!
How fast is it?
Pretty fast even on legacy PCs. We have had it benchmarked at the outset and found it faster than the existing software we were using. This prompted us to migrate all our existing programs to GMC.
What’s the quality like?
It ensures high quality productivity levels.
How reliable is it?
We have a ‘check the checker’ kind of scenario in which we do check the output of GMC as a quality procedure. As we have handled more than a million customers a day with all the quality checks validated, we can vouch for its reliability.
How easy is it to use?
It has a fast learning curve. One can get a hang of it as it uses components and templates which are a time-saver.
How much time or money has it saved?
There are a lot of tangible as well as intangible benefits. Intangible ones being that we do data-quality checks creating routines in GMC. This has helped us many a times to update the customer of errors in data. Tangible benefits include requiring lesser man-hours to arrive at the finished product, product-profiling and a fantastic customisation level to which one can cater to. This adds a revenue stream to the customer as well as to us.
Has it won you any new work?
Yes, in fact we have got in new work in terms of transpromo and also it has helped us retaining some of our existing customers by proposing a value addition.
Would you say that it offers value for money?
Yes, looking at the savings I would say it is value for money.
Where there any difficulties experienced during the installation or after?
None. We had a comprehensive training session and also a hands-on demo on the suite’s usage and features.
What about the pre and after-sale service?
They have an office very near our unit. The fact that they have shifted office from BKC to Vashi to be nearer to their customers – speaks volumes about their commitment.
Under what circumstances would you buy another?
We have enough production and design licenses to cater to an increase of clientele. If we plan for a new high speed printer it will make sense to buy another copy of GMC.
